New COVID-19 infection rates show signs of falling again

NEW COVID-19 infections rates are showing signs of falling again in Warrington as just 12 new cases have been reported in the latest data from Public Health England.

The 12 (22) new cases in the latest daily update from Public Health England means the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since the start of the pandemic is now 17,616 (17,604).
Its the lowest number recorded since 12 on March 10, although this figure was later revised to 21. Prior to that you have to go back to last September to see fewer cases.
Warrington’s infection rate remains higher than the national average which has also fallen slightly.



Cases in Warrington for the last seven days, previous days/updates in brackets, are 164 (177) – 78.1 (84.3) per 100,000 population, showing a decrease in infection rates following recent rises.
This compares to the national rate of 57.3 (57.7) per 100,000.

*The highest number COVID-19 positive inpatients during the first wave was on 12th April with 124 patients of which 18 were in ICU.
The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 484 (484) 230.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 189.9.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is now 553 (553).
