POLICE are warning residents to be alert to hawkers, pedlars and door-to-door sellers who have been reported operating in the Warrington area with fake ID cards.

The bogus Hawkers/Pedlars/Door-to-Door sellers in the area are using fake ID Cards like the one pictured.

A Warrington Police spokesperson said: “Beware these pedlars! They will feed you a line about being a reformed offender’ or ‘I’m on a scheme with Probation’ – these are designed to create sympathy and make the sale!
“As soon as someone identifies them in the area, and there will be numerous pedlars around, we urge you to call 101 and tell us about it!
“Many homeowners may be alert to them, but these people prey on the vulnerable and elderly members of society.
“Tell us about them so we can intercept them and disrupt their activities.
“Give us the heads up and we’ll be there for you! Call us on 101.”
