Work set to start on £736,000 project to improve Stockton Heath car park

WORK should start either this month or in April on a £736,000 extension and refurbishment of Stockton Heath’s Forge Car park.

Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet will be asked by lead member for transportation Cllr Hans Mundry on Monday, March 8 to approve a tender for the project.
The car park has been owned by the council for more than 20 and during that time has been regularly maintained. But the council now accepts it requires substantial modernisation to ensure it remains safe and suitable for a modern, busy district centre car park.
Complaints about the condition of the car park are regularly received.
The council has consulted Stockton Heath Parish Council, ward councillors, the owners of the Forge Shopping Centre, Marks and Spencer, Stockton Heath Primary School and the vicar of St Thomas’ Church in drawing up the proposals which in addition to improving the existing car park will add an additional car spaces.
