Property flooded following water main leak at Great Sankey

ONE home was flooded and others were left without water as firefighters tackled a leaking water main at Great Sankey, Warrington, earlier today.

The incident took place at around 12 noon when firefighters at Penketh received a report of a leak from a main water feed to a house in Bransdale Close, Great Sankey, Warrington.

On arrival water from the leak was in the property’s kitchen.
Firefighters isolated the electricity supply to the house and used a suction hose to redirect floodwater out of the property and into a drain.
They also isolated the water supply to a neighbouring house and arranged for United Utilities to attend.
The utility company temporarily isolated the water supply to all properties in the close whilst a tap was fitted on an internal pipe to stop the leak.
Once the leak was stopped by the company firefighters left the close.
They were in attendance for around three-and-a-half hours.

  1. Why the heck were fire fighters called to deal with this??.. How much did this cost us??.. the home owner should have called a plumber out like any right minded person would do.
