JACK Hughes says it is a “massive honour” after being chosen to captain Warrington Wolves for the upcoming 2021 Betfred Super League season.

Hughes has become a mainstay with the Wire since joining in 2016 and shared the leadership of the team with co-captain, Chris Hill last season, with the two layers lifting the Challenge Cup together in 2019.

Hill, who is celebrating his testimonial season, will step down from captaincy duties after five seasons allowing him to focus on his own performances whilst remaining committed to supporting Jack in his role going forward.
Commenting about his role as captain, Jack Hughes said, “It’s a massive honour and something I’m really proud of.
“Obviously, I understand the weight and responsibility that comes with the role and it’s something I’ll take extremely seriously.
“I’ll uphold the highest of standards at all times – any leadership role would require that – but I’m extremely proud.”
