Family escapes 3am house fire at Culcheth

A FAMILY escaped unhurt early today when fire broke out at a house in Ariel Gardens, Culcheth, Warrington
Fire engines from Birchwood and Wigan went to the 3.45am blaze,
On arrival smoke alarms were sounding and the crews discovered that the fire involved a speaker in one of the ground floor rooms.
The area of fire measured approximately two metres by three metres.
The electricity supply to the house was isolated and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. Lighting equipment and a hearth kit were used and once the fire was out a ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the house.
Firefighters were in attendance for around 50 minutes.
