Church regulars embark on virtual Easter Walk to Jerusalem

0

DURING the 100 days between Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, members of St. Matthew’s Church, Stretton and the village community are undertaking a virtual walk to Jerusalem.

Whilst it is not possible to walk the distance of 6,077 km or about 3,800 miles together, a virtual walk has been created on the World Walking app, as a way of being together whilst apart. People are invited to join in and make this a community achievement.
The route started at the recently renovated lychgate of St Matthew’s Church, Stretton and set off via London, Bruges, Cologne, Marburg, Bamburg, Munich, Graz, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Thessaloniki, Istanbul, Ephesus, Xanthos, Adana, Aleppo, Damascus, across the River Jordan (!) and finally to Jerusalem.
The church is providing some weekly Reflections on Facebook along the way. It is hoped that by the time they reach Jerusalem, they may be able to celebrate in their welcome area at the back of church, which was completed last summer.
Details of how to join can be found on the church’s website www.stmatthewschurchstretton.org.uk
