Apartments scheme approved for town centre “mansion.”

PLANNING chiefs have given the go-ahead for the conversion of one of Warrington’s historic town centre houses into eight apartments.

The four-storey property in Bold Street, once the home of the Warrington Club, is described as a Victorian, Gothic-style gabled mansion and occupies an architecturally important position on the corner of Palmyra Square, within the Palmyra Square Conservation Area.
It was a number of interesting features including a paired porch, flanked by ionic columns with frieze and cornice and a ground floor bay window.
The conversion will include replacement UPVC windows, but they will match the existing design so as not to detract from the overall appearance of the building and its contribution to the conservation area.
Developers the Pod Property Group will provide a resident’s courtyard in the scheme.
