Stockton Heath councillor pushing for electric vehicle charging points

A STOCKTON Heath councillor is pushing for electric vehicle charging points to be included in the refurbishment of the village’s Forge car park.

Liberal Democrat Cllr Peter Walker has welcomed preliminary clearance work on the car park has been done but warned that the refurbishment cannot be carried out until tenders have been approved
He said: “I am pleased to see that the disused toilet block has now been demolished and the land cleared ready for an extension to this busy car park.
“This is a step in the right direction, but we are going to have to be patient a bit longer before the planned refurbishment is actually started. I am pushing for electric vehicle charging points to be installed. There are none in South Warrington except at the Lymm Truck stop.
“Although funding for this may not be achieved in time, officers have agreed with my proposal that electric cable channels should be put in as part of the work. This means the Forge will be ready to install charging points quickly as soon as money does become available. There should be funding for this from Central Government if it is serious about prohibiting the sale of new internal combustion powered vehicles after 2030
