A 70-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation after fire broke out in a house at Warrington last night.
The blaze involved an upstairs room at the house in Lynham Avenue, Great Sankey shortly before 7.30pm.
Three fire engines – two from Penketh and one from Warrington – attended and firefighters were at the scene for more than five hours.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus use a hose reel jet to tackle the flames from the roof.
Neighbouring properties were also checked to see if the fire had spread to them and a ventilation unit was used to disperse smoke and the crews also checked properties for hot spots.
The casualty was handed over to the care of paramedics.
