MEMBERS of Lymm and District Round Table were thrilled to raise £6,300 for charity in a day of running and cycling and would like to say a big thank you to everybody who donated.
Starting at sunrise in the pouring rain their members, and some from Lymm Ladies Circle, set off and throughout the day rode and ran a combined equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats – that’s 874 miles!
The idea for the fundraising came after one of their members sadly passed away recently and the team has donated funds raised towards Bowel Research UK and Warrington Food Bank.
Round Table member and organiser Al Priest said: “The weather was dreadful and if we weren’t fundraising we wouldn’t have been out running or cycling. Nonetheless the whole team put in an amazing performance with many running or cycling the most they’d ever done in a day. We’re ecstatic to have raised so much money and it really spurred us on through the cold puddles.”
The Lymm and District Round Table is one of the most buoyant in the country with a large and enthusiastic membership and they’re hoping to bring back the popular Duck Race, Beer Festival and Fireworks during 2021 if COVID restrictions permit.
