Hospitals give back to say thank you

STAFF from Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals made donations to charities supporting local people as a gesture of thanks for the recent show of community support for NHS staff.

Staff from the Trust’s Warrington and Halton sites have donated food items or held collections to buy foodstuffs and essential items for Warrington Helping Hands, Runcorn Food Bank and Runcorn Veterans charities.
Collections were co-ordinated by Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ Charity which has overseen management of the Community Hub – a central point to support the community and local business in donating food, toiletries and other comforts for patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Located in a portacabin off Kendrick wing, but external to the main Warrington hospital building, the Community Hub is open 8-4pm Mon-Fri for drop offs of a wide range of items.
Head of Fundraising for WHH Charity, Helen Higginson said: “We wanted to find a way to recognise the immense goodwill towards the NHS and our WHH staff since the start of the pandemic.
“It has really meant a lot to us and we felt that supporting local charities helping local people and families in their hour of need was a fitting way for us to repay that goodwill and say thank you.”
WHH Charity continues to raise funds to support and enhance the care received by patients, their families and carers in our hospitals.
