WARRINGTON Market has partnered with online ordering and payment platform Yoello to launch the UK’s first tech-powered market hall, providing a lifeline for traders .

The £11m state of the art facility, which opened in June, is using Yoello’s technology to create a better customer experience, and enable traders to keep their businesses operating through Lockdown and Tier restrictions.

Paul Blaney, market operations manager, Warrington Market, said: “When the Market opened earlier this year, we knew we had to start looking into table ordering and to use some of the latest technology out there. I did some serious research into the different platforms and businesses that could help the market and Yoello came out on top. Being backed by some heavyweights from the financial and hospitality industry and already being used by some massive hospitality businesses I knew they weren’t just a splash in the pan and here for the long haul.
“Being small, independent businesses our traders are able to adapt very, very quickly and the Yoello platform has been able to help with their business resilience in these challenging times. With the flexibility of offering mobile table ordering, click & collect and delivery features it has allowed our traders to adapt, whatever Tier restrictions have been put in place by the government. This has been a serious lifeline during these uncertain times.”
Over 20 traders have benefitted from the technology. Warrington Market has been serving enjoyable, Covid-safe experience to the town’s diners with via app-based ordering at its Cookhouse food hall. The delicatessen and boulangerie have been able to offer a click & collect service to local office workers. And Warrington Fruit and Veg is now delivering 600 boxes a week to vulnerable and self-isolating customers via the Yoello delivery platform.
Sina Yamani, CEO & Founder of Yoello says: “Since the new Warrington Market opened in June, we’ve been working closely with the market team to create the best possible customer experience with technology at its heart. Rather than being closed over Lockdown and through the restrictions, we’ve collectively managed to protect the livelihood of 20 business and keep the local economy going.
“Our aim is to bring businesses into the digital age and help them harness technology to succeed. Faced with an ‘adapt or die’ situation, Covid has accelerated a change that’s been in the pipeline for a while. More businesses are turning to us to meet the need for contactless ordering and cashless payment and our hope is to roll out a similar solution in market halls across the UK by the end of 2021.”
Yoello is the only FCA-accredited mobile ordering and payment platform. It offers a simple and secure ordering set-up that allows customers to order food and drink safely, without staff contact, physical menus or queuing.
The new tech at The Cookhouse Foodcourt allows guests to simply sit at a table, scan the QR code and select dishes from their favourite traders to be delivered to the table. Among others, Cafe at the End of the Universe are providing pop culture-inspired food creations, Casa Mexica is offering some of the best burritos in England, and Louies Pizza is providing fresh pies straight out of the oven.
Click & collect orders are available from the boulangerie for its French afternoon tea experiences at home and the delicatessen.
Two Brothers coffee are using the Yoello delivery function to provide the coffee experience at home, allowing customers order freshly roasted beans.
Local greengrocer Warrington Fruit and Veg is offering delivery for his fruit and veg boxes.
