Drink driver lucky to escape uninjured after crashing car into tree

POLICE say a drink driver was lucky to walk away uninjured after crashing a car into a tree at Winwick last night.

Officers attended at Southworth Lane, Winwick following reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.
The driver has since been arrested for driving with excess alcohol and was lucky to walk away uninjured.
Meanwhile yesterday, officers from the North beat team carried out several stops on vehicles that were being driven in a defective manner.
Seven vehicles were stopped for headlights and/or tail lights not working.
All drivers were dealt with by means of defect notices.
A taxi driver has also been reported to Warrington Borough Council for licence issues.
