LUMB Brook Bridge at Appleton, will remain closed for at least another 24 hours due to ongoing emergency repairs for a gas leak in the carriageway.

The closure has been causing extra traffic congestion at the well know bottleneck since the closure on Friday.
Contractors from Cadent are hoping to have the works completed later tomorrow, Tuesday.
A five-day emergency road closure came into force with effect from Friday 11th December 2020, for a period not exceeding 5 days, on Lumb Brook Road, from its junction with Grappenhall Road to its junction with Bridge Lane.
Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative route will be Walton Road via Grappenhall Road, London Road, Lyons Lane, Bridge Lane and vice versa.
The reason for the closure is to allow Cadent to carry out emergency repairs to a gas escape in the carriageway.
Contractors have told the borough council that they hope to have the work completed by late Tuesday.
