MEMBERS of Lymm Roundtable are planning to do a virtual Lands End to John O’Groats in under eight hours after seeing their usual fund-raising events wiped out by the cOVID-19 pandemic.

In the absence of the Lymm Duck Race, Lymm Beer Fest and Fireworks Night, members have decided to get on their bikes, or trainers and get exercising.
They are aiming to run/ride the equivalent of Lands End to John O’Groats in under eight hours between sunrise and sunset. That’s 874 miles according to Wikipedia!
They will be doing the challenge on Sunday, December 13 from sunrise (8:17) to sunset (15:50) 7hrs 33.
Iain, one of the club’s members sadly passed away recently and they will be donating funds raised towards Bowel Research UK and Warrington Food Bank.
The Lymm and District Round Table is one of the most buoyant in the country with a large and enthusiastic membership and they’re hoping to bring back the popular Duck Race, Beer Festival and Fireworks for 2021 if COVID restrictions permit.
Roundtable member Steve Liput said “Not being able to run our normal fundraisers we decided to set ourselves a group fundraiser challenge. After a few ideas over a beer we eventually settled on trying to cover Lands End to John O’Groats, virtually, in a day.”
President Al Priest added: “We’ve got a range of fitness levels within the group, and some of us may end up covering 100+ miles in a day, others a little less. We’ve been doing some training and are confident of covering the total distance, so long as the weather is not too too bad”
The Target distance is 874 miles, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land%27s_End_to_John_o%27_Groats
Following triathlon effort ratios they have assumed that running a single mile will be the equivalent of 4 miles cycling.
The challenge will be subject to all local COVID restrictions at the time.
