Hydro power installation progressing well at Woolston Weir

WORK on installing the Hydro power project at Woolston Weir, which will produce enough electricity to power around 380 homes, is progressing well and due for completion in late Spring 2021.

The contractors, Hydropol, are liaising with the local community and providing updates as the project develops. The latest drone photo of the development clearly shows the outline area of the project and the current state of the works.
Piling work to shape the project area and protect the environment was completed on schedule with minimal disruption and work on the turbine housing will begin in January.
Local community coordinator Jim Hunter said: “It’s quite unusual to have such close and open communication direct with the contractors who have been excellent in giving us regular updates and insights into the project planning, together with a monthly aerial drone photo to illustrate the progress.
“We’re really looking forward to the information helping document the development for posterity.”
