POLICE at Warrington and the borough council are appealing to members of the public to help cut the number of wheelie bin fires across the town.

The first thing they can do is take bins in as soon as possible after they have been emptied and leave it as late as possible before putting them out
Over the past few months there have been numerous bin fires in the Warrington area and usually the cause is arson.
The cost to the borough council and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is £2,000 per bin fire.
A police spokesperson said: .”The costs of ires to our communities are ridiculous not just in money terms but in damage to parks and play areas and also the dangers of inhaling the toxic smoke from these fires
“If you have any children you think might be involved in setting fires please explain the issues to them.
“If you are aware of anyone setting fires you can report them via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800555111 anonymously
