Warrington Wolves and council teaming up for public broadcast

WARRINGTON Wolves and Warrington Borough Council are teaming to co-deliver a public broadcast on Monday 9 November at 5pm.

The broadcast, which will discuss the latest coronavirus position in Warrington, what the national restrictions mean for the town and how Warrington can adapt and respond to the challenges brought by the pandemic, will be led by:

  • Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden
  • Council Chief Executive, Professor Steven Broomhead MBE
  • Warrington Wolves Head Coach, Steve Price

Warrington, in line with the rest of England, is currently subject to national restrictions. These restrictions state that people should only leave their homes for specific purposes such as education, work or providing care, and also place strict limits on socialising with people that do not live in the same households or haven’t formed a household or childcare support bubble. The restrictions also mean that non-essential retail, beauty, leisure, hospitality and entertainment shops and venues must close.
The panel will discuss what the restrictions mean for Warrington, and how we can continue to look after ourselves, and each other, despite the current measures.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “I sincerely hope the new national restrictions will help us to address and bring down the stubbornly high case numbers we have in Warrington. The broadcast on Monday will reiterate our current position in terms of case numbers and hospital capacity, but it will also be a great opportunity to hear from Steve Price and his reflections on how we can remain resilient in the face of adversity. The last seven months have been a challenge, but as a town we continue to cope remarkably well despite the very difficult circumstances. To hear from Steve about how he himself copes in times of difficulty and pressurised situations will, I am sure, inspire many of us.”

People will be able to watch the public broadcast at 5pm on Monday via the council website.
