Flat badly damaged by fire

EXTENSIVE damage was caused at a flat at Warrington, last night – but there were no reports of injuries.
Two fire engines were sent to the blaze in Lyon Street, shortly before 6pm.
They found the flat well alight and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus each used a hose reel jet to tackle the flames.
The crews, from Warrington and Penketh, were at the scene for about an hour and 15 minutes.
Elsewhere, Bonfire Night passed off relatively quietly as the majority of people scaled down their celebrations because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But there was an incident in Ridgway Grundy Park, off Maltman’s Road, Lymm when firefighters found a tyre swing in a playground had been set alight. They used water to extinguish the flames.
A crew was also sent to a report of a shed on fire in Charnwood Close, Birchwood, Warrington, but it was out by the time they reached the scene.
