Scouts produce their own Remembrance Day display

SCOUTS from the local Culcheth (19thWarrington) troop have teamed up with Culcheth Methodist Church and produced a large and colourful Remembrance Day display.
The display is at the church on Ellesmere Road and will enable local people to reflect and consider the fallen in wars gone by. It can be seen in the windows of the church and also spills out onto the lawn under the main window display.
There are also smaller themed displays including the “Poppy Drift” and “Poppy Fountain”.
COVID has had an impact on the usual annual Remembrance Day parade and service at Newchurch Parish Church. So scouts decided to create their own version of Remembrance and have been busy cutting out hundreds of poppies to create the display.
Residents can easily visit the display, pay their respects and add their own poppy or cross it they wish.
Scout Leader Dave Sanderson said: “We were delighted the Methodist Church actively encouraged us to create the display and also the outcome following so much help from our scout members.
“We do hope people enjoy the display and pause to ‘Remember them’ because they gave everything”
