Police step up patrols after Halloween mayhem

EXTRA police will be on duty across Warrington tonight following a series of incidents last night arising from Halloween celebrations.

A total of 23 incidents were reported last night including anti-social behaviour and damage to vehicles.
As a result, a dispersal order has been put in force at Dakota Park, which was a hot spot for trouble. This gives police extra powers to order people to leave the area and, if they fail to do so, arrest them.
A police spokesperson said: “Parents – please be aware of where your children are. Any offences will be dealt with robustly.”
Police stressed that because of Covid-19 restrictions, people were committing an offence if they met in groups of more than six.
Special Constables are volunteering to support police patrolling the town.
