THERE will be no official Remembrance Sunday parades in Warrington on Sunday, November 8 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead, residents and veterans are being encouraged, in line with national advice, to pay their respects by observing the national, two-minute silence at home.
But a private invitation-only wreath-laying ceremony will be held outdoors at the Cenotaph inside the grounds of Newchurch Parish Church, Culcheth to be attended by a small group of invited civic leaders, veterans, armed forces members and local organisations.
John Hughes, chairman of Culcheth and district branch of the Royal British Legion, said: “For safety reasons as the ceremony is restricted to 30 persons this event will not be open to the public. “
