Two more COVID-19 deaths at Warrington Hospital as town prepares for Tier 3 local lockdown

TWO more COVID-19 patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital and 89 new cases reported in the latest data from Public Health England, as the town prepares to enter a Tier 3 “very high” risk local lockdown.

Talks are currently ongoing between Warrington Borough Council and the Government regarding the terms of the Tier 3 local lockdown which is expected to come into force in the coming days.
There is particular concern at the rate of infection in the over 60s age group which is currently at a rate of 195 per 100,000, with the local hospital under increasing pressure.
A total of 25 patients have now died at the hospital in the month of October.

Meanwhile, 89 (134) new cases mean the total of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic is now 4,713 (4,624).
There have been 733 cases in the last seven days – 349 per 100,000 population.
According to the latest data from Public Health England there have now been 182 (175) deaths in Warrington, 86.7 per 100,000 population.

Covid-19 positive inpatients 116 (115) – Of which 15 (15) are in ICU
Total number of tests (inpatients/community) cumulative – 29,189 (28,964)
Total tests with a positive result (inpatients/community/died/discharged) cumulative 1,809 (1,795)
Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 540 (533)
Deaths of Covid-19 positive inpatients cumulative 168 (166)

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 189 (191), taking the total number of deaths to 44,347 (44,158).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 21,242 (26,688), taking the total number to 810,467 (762,542).
Across the country, there are 7,433 (6,479) patients currently in hospital and 711 (629) patients in ventilator beds.
