Sports car sales booming in Warrington during pandemic

CAR enthusiasts in Warrington have shaken off the Covid-19 blues by buying more sports cars than anywhere else in the country.

This is according to used car retailer CarShop in its latest consumer buying trends survey.
While sales of sporty cars in June, July and August increased by a surprising 82 percent across the country, the increase at the firm’s Warrington branch was a staggering 283 per cent compared with the same period last year – the biggest increase across England and Wales.
Locals also spent more on their cars – the average spend on a used sports car was £12,396 – an increase of 21 percent over last year’s figure.
Company spokesman at Warrington, Steven Whittle, said “The surge in sports car sales in Warrington doesn’t surprise me – in these distressing times, people are looking for something positive, fun and exciting to distract them from the current climate. Holidays are on pause, weddings and large family gatherings are postponed, so people are treating themselves. We feel that these figures also show that the used car marketplace proves itself to be resilient.”
