Hockey men pick up valuable points away from home

WARRINGTON Hockey Club’s men’s first team took three valuable away points in a fine win 0-3 win over Alderley Edge.
They created several early chances before Michael Holmes and Ben Vickers linked up to slot in the first goal.
A half time team talk encouraged Warrington to hit the target more, peppering the Alderley goalkeeper until Dominic Bain smartly finished at the back post and Holmes and Vickers again linked up to add a third.
The women’s forst team travelled to take on a strong Whitchurch and were unlucky to go down 3-4 in a very close game.
Emma Turner bagged a brace, and vice captain Carrie Wright also converted. Whitchurch regained parity with goals of their own and scored late on leaving Warrington too little time to rescue a point.
The women’s second team played two close fixtures, narrowly losing to a young Brooklands team 2-1.
Captain Tammy Finlayson was on the scoresheet while goalkeeper Kirsty Anderson was in fine form between the sticks.
The women’s second team also played Lymm in a rearranged fixture, being closely edged out in a 2-3 loss. Carrie Wright was again on the scoresheet, accompanied by Grace Deegan Graham
