Firefighters tackle large blaze in farmer’s field

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a large fire in a farmer’s field at Culcheth, Warrington.

Two fire crews attended, one from Birchwood and one from Lymm, shortly after 5.30pm yesterday, Sunday, following reports of a fire in the open in Wigshaw Lane, Culcheth, Warrington.
On arrival crews discovered it was a large fire in a farmer’s field. The fire measured approximately 20 square metres and was close to trees.
Firefighters liaised with the farmer before putting out the fire with water. A water shuttle was set up to get enough water to the field.
Firefighters were in attendance for nearly three hours.
