WARRINGTON Hockey Club’s men’s 2nd team triumphed in a dramatic 4-3 win at Deeside Ramblers.

After going down early to a penalty flick, Warrington responded with four goals from Iain Richards, Rob Powell, Gavin Brown and Lovey Kang. Deeside then fought back but Warrington held on for the three points. Captain Noel Phillpotts said: “Two league wins for Warrington mens 2s, a team which is really coming together and developing. The lads made me proud today”.
The women’s 1st team continued their winning streak and run of clean sheets with a 2-0 away win over Neston. Carrie Wright converted a short corner after good work from Meg Sutch to win it, followed by another goal from Steph Quayle. Tracy Jackson retained her clean sheet run with some great saves.
Warrington Men’s 1st team re-organised a friendly to replace the Covid cancelled league game against Bebington 1st team, two leagues above them.
They looked the better team in a 2-2 affair, creating several chances. Ben Vickers and Douglas Samuels were on the scoresheet to surprise the visiting Wirral side.
The women’s 2nd team entertained a strong up-and-coming Timperley 5th team in a 0-5 defeat. Warrington defended resolutely throughout, Gloria Liu denying Timperley forwards. But Timperley were clinical when in the D, taking their chances well to secure the win
