Hospital chief makes plea for people to observe local COVID-19 “lockdown” restrictions

WARRINGTON & Halton Hospitals’ Chief Executive Simon Constable has issued a plea for people to observe the local “lockdown” restrictions following a “rapid rise” in COVID-19 related admissions.

Prof. Constable said: “We are seeing a rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 positive patients admitted to Warrington Hospital, with more of those patients needing treatment in intensive care.
“We are working hard, like the rest of the NHS, to reschedule all postponed appointments and procedures. We are very fortunate that we have a dedicated ‘COVID-secure’ site at Halton Hospital where, thanks to our ‘green pathways’ we are able to continue planned procedures for our patients. We also have ‘green pathways’ at Warrington for certain types of procedure.
“I cannot emphasise strongly enough how important it is that our communities in both Halton and Warrington observe the local ‘lockdown’ restrictions for the sake of their own health and that of their friends and family, as well as giving local NHS services the opportunity to continue providing care for our populations. It will be the measures taken by our community that make the difference here. Please, think hands, face, space and avoid all situations that are likely to bring you into contact with the virus.
