Three more hospital deaths and highest number of new COVID-19 cases since start of pandemic

THREE more patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, with 126 new cases confirmed in the latest daily updates from Public Health England and a significant increase in hospital patients.

More than 3,000 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in Warrington since the start of the outbreak last March and the latest daily figures are the highest recorded, with the daily average now at 73.7 as of October 1.
Twelve more patients have been admitted to Warrington & Halton Hospital in the past 24 hours, double the previous day, with nine in intensive care.
A total of 126 (111) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Warrington in the latest daily updates from Public Health England.
The total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since March is now 3,079 (2953). The seven day average as of October 1 was 73.7 (62.7).
The latest available figures from Warrington Hospital released today, Wednesday, Oct 7. Previous day’s figures in brackets.
Covid-19 positive inpatients 59 (47) – of which 9(7) are in ICU
Total number of tests (inpatients/community) cumulative – 25,786 (25,449)
Total tests with a positive result (inpatients/community/died/discharged) cumulative 1,505 (1,477)
Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 455 (453)
Deaths of Covid-19 positive inpatients cumulative 149 (146)
*There have been 161 (161) COVID-related deaths reported by Public Health England in Warrington, 76.7 per 100,000 population, although these don’t include the latest hospital deaths.

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 70 (76), taking the total number of deaths to 42,515 (42,445). *Deaths with COVID-19 on death certicates 57,347.
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 14,162 (14,542), taking the total number to 544,275 (530,113).
Across the country, there are 3,145 (2,833) patients currently in hospital and 410 (393) patients in ventilator beds.
