THE Borough Council has confirmed a third COVID-19 broadcast for Monday 5 October at 5pm, following the government announcement about further restrictions for Warrington.
The panel for Monday’s broadcast will include:
•Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden
•Chief Executive, Professor Steven Broomhead
•Director of Public Health, Thara Raj
•Director of Education, Early Help and SEND services, Paula Worthington
To recap, the added restrictions for Warrington from 00.01am on Saturday 3 October (ie from midnight tonight), are that:
•Residents will be restricted from mixing with people outside their household in any indoor setting by law, including restaurants, bars and other indoor venues (unless in a household support bubble or childcare bubble)
•People are also advised not to meet people outside their household, or support bubble, in any outdoor setting, including parks, outdoor events or pub gardens
In other words, residents are banned from going for a drink or a meal indoors with someone they don’t live with, or visiting indoor venues together. Residents are also asked not to meet with other households in outdoor settings.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “We have done two public broadcasts now, which thousands of people have tuned in to and it’s clear that there are many questions about what these further restrictions will mean for Warrington, our businesses and public venues.
“It’s also important to note that schools are not impacted by the latest guidance, and our schools and education providers continue to work very closely with us to ensure they have COVID-secure arrangements in place. It is essential, therefore, that we offer an update on the positive work of our education partners, despite the challenges we are all facing.
“These new restrictions are disappointing, but it is within our collective power to reduce the number of cases in our town. If we keep following the basics with discipline, including maintaining excellent hand hygiene, keeping our distance from others and wearing cloth face coverings where necessary, we can all do our bit to stop the virus from spreading further.
“Above all – be kind to others, particularly our elderly and vulnerable loved ones, by following the rules.”
