Appeal for witnesses after armed police attend disturbance at Orford

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an incident at Orford earlier today (Tuesday) involving armed officers attending a disturbance.

Road closures were put in place shortly after noon at the junction of Orford Lane, Marsh House Lane and Battersby Lane as the area was cordoned off by police, including armed officers, following reports of a disturbance.
Reports locally on social media suggested there had been a shooting but police say they have received no reports of firearms being discharged.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.20pm today, Tuesday, September 29, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Marsh House Lane, Warrington.
“Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they found a white van which had been damaged and abandoned.
“There are no reports of any injuries and there are no reports of any firearms being discharged.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation, is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number IML816290.”
