Lib Dems slam government’s Covid testing system as “inadequate”

LIBERAL Democrats at Warrington have condemned the Government’s Covid testing, tracking and tracing system as being “woefully inadequate”.

They have asked the borough council if there are any plans for setting up a local tracing service, given the increase in Covid cases in Warrington.
Cllr Ian Marks (pictured), the Liberal Democrat spokesman on health said the council had assured him that it was working as closely as it could with Public Health North West and other regional bodies.
“But capacity is limited for setting up our own service.  I also asked if the local statistics for testing, tracking and tracing in the town could be made available to the public.  I am pleased that the council will look at this to see what is possible.
“The national situation is a shambles.  On May 20 the Prime Minister declared that the UK would have a world-beating system in place by June 1.  Instead nearly four months later, the country is facing a testing crisis.  It is quite unacceptable that we are facing a second wave of coronavirus with a totally inadequate system.
“We hear horror stories of people being told to travel miles to be tested.  We deserve an apology from the Prime Minister.”

  1. I do have to wonder what the lib dems solution would be. it is ok to criticise the government efforts if you have a better solution, but if you do not have even a solution or a clue on how to improve what is already in place then it is just political sniping for snipings sake.
