WARRINGTON Rylands 1906 warmed up for their Tuesday night trip to Whitby Town in the Emirates FA Cup with a 5-2 win at Daisy Hill on Saturday in the Buildbase FA Vase.
Rylands had to come from behind to win this first qualifying round tie their NWCFL First Division hosts opening the scoring in the 4th minute through Matt Davison. Their lead lasted just two minutes as Tom Freeman leveled the scores heading home an Adam Jones cross.
Rylands hit the front in 25th minute when summer signing Charlie Doyle opened his account for the club with a shot from the edge of the area. Kane Drummond extended Rylands advantage in the 28th minute firing a free kick from outside the area into the top corner of the net.
Dominating the game Rylands went further ahead in the 61st minute through Freddie Potter and Drummond who netted his second in the 75th minute.
The afternoon’s scoring was bookended by Tom Jackson who scored a late consolation for the home side.
Rylands reward for winning is a home tie in the 2d qualifying round against Goole of the Northern Counties East League on Saturday 10th October; however before then they have the small matter of the FA Cup first qualifying round of the FA Cup at Whitby Town who kicked off their 2020/21 Northern Premier League season with an impressive 2-0 win at Witton Albion on Saturday.
Before the next round of the FA Vase, Warrington Rylands will be hoping to get their league campaign off to a winning start with the NWCFL season scheduled to start on Saturday 3rd October when the Blues are due to visit Litherland REMYCA (providing neither team wins their FA Cup game on Tuesday) and Northwich Victoria on Wednesday 7th October.
