Firefighters called out four times over night to tackle fires in the open

FIREFIGHTERS were called out four times overnight to tackle fires in the open in the Warrington area.

The first call-out was at 19:00 when one crew form Warrington dealt with a fire in a field off Pennington Lane, Collins Green. Warrington
The fire was approximately 50 metres by 50 metres. Crews extinguished the flames by using beaters and water.
Then at 19:23 one fire engine from Birchwood was called out to tackle a small fire in the open on Somerset Way, Woolston. Crews used water to extinguish the fire.
Later in the evening at 21:49 one fire engine from Warrington attended a fire involving burning near a property on Newhaven Road Orford. Crews used water to put out the flames.
Finally, at 02:49 one fire engine from Penketh attended to reports of a tree well alight on a field on Widnes Road, Penketh
A hose reel and hose reel jet were used to put out the flames.
Crews then continued to dampen down the area.
