WARRINGTON Rylands 1906 followed up their historic 6-1 AF Cup at 1874 Northwich with a friendly game at Cheshire League Garswood United on Saturday as they prepare for their first-ever FA Cup clash at Gorsey Lane.

Having described Tuesday’s win as an “unbelievable performance” in which “the lads were brilliant from start to finish” manager Dave McNabb had to settle for seeing his charges held to a 1 all draw at Garswood. Despite creating numerous chances only a Freddie Potter shot from a corner in the 56th minute found the back of the net.
Attention now turns to the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday when Warrington Rylands 1906 entertain Northern Premier League Clitheroe in the first ever FA Cup game staged at Gorsey Lane.
Saturday will be Clitheroe’s first competitive game of the new season as their NPL First Division West campaign does not start until the week after. The Lancastrians played a home pre season friendly against Curzon Ashton of the National League North on Saturday winning 3-2.
Attendance for the Cup tie is capped at 300 and places are selling fast, to obtain entry please contact the club via their twitter or facebook account.
