WARRINGTON has seen the largest number of new COVID-19 cases reported in a single day since May.

A total of 17 new cases were reported by Public Health England on Thursday (September 3) the highest number since May 12 when there were 19 confirmed cases.
This followed 13 new cases reported last Wednesday and a total of 66 cases reported in the seven day period from August 29 to September 4.
The increases come as Public Health leaders in the town have urged people to get themselves tested and to self-isolate, even if showing just the mildest of symptoms.
Earlier in the week The White Hart Public House took the decision to close after staff tested positive.

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 2, taking the total number of deaths to 41,551.
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 2,998, taking the total number to 347,152.
There are 756 patients currently in hospital and 69 patients in ventilator beds.
