FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue three people following a flat fire at Howley, Warrington, shortly before midnight last night (Saturday).

Three fire engines attended, one from Warrington, one from Lymm and one from Penketh following reports of a fire at a flat in Riverside Close.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
A large fan was used to then ventilate the area. A covering jet was also in use.

Firefighters rescued one man from the flat and two people from the flat above and provided them with oxygen therapy.
They were then passed into the care of paramedics.
The gas and electric supply to the property was isolated.
Crews were in attendance for around two hours and 30 minutes.
