Bold plans to give Kingsway House a facelift

BOLD plans for give Warrington’s tallest residential tower block a facelift have been submitted to the borough council.
Housing group Torus want to carry out extensive improvement works at the nine-storey Kingsway House at Latchford.
The proposals involve the creation of two additional residential units by the conversion of existing ground floor stores, and extension to the entrance area, provision of new balconies, removal of asbestos from the building, internal alterations and provision of new, external cladding.
In addition, existing parking provision would be altered, increasing the number of parking spaces from 27 to 46. A number of existing garages would be removed.
Planning documents submitted to the council’s planning department, describe Kingsway House as a partially inhabited, rundown residential tower block, with many of the existing units “unused and undesirable.”
The proposals would radically improve the external appearance of the building.
Torus say flats will continue to be offered for social, affordable or intermediate rent.
