Heavy home defeat for Warrington

WARRINGTON slumped to a five wicket defeat in their Vivio Cheshire County League game against Sale.
Batting first at Walton Lea they were bowled out for 72 in 34.2 overs, with only two batsmen reaching double figures.
Sale reached their target for the loss of five wickets, four of which went to Brad Roden who bowled superbly to take 4-8 in eight overs.
Warrington 2nd had to concede their game due to a shortage of players.
Grappenhall were at home to Brooklands and the teams chose to play two T20 games – winning one each.
In the first, Grappers hit 125-6 in reply to the visitors’ 133-8 but in the second, Grappers hit 152-4 and dismissed Brooklands for 128.
Grappenhall’s South African-born former Gloucester player Grant Hodnett hit 61 in the first game and 50 in the second. Peter Barnes also batted well in the second game with 32. Gaz Burns took 3-25.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park last by one run in an exciting last-over finish at Knutsford.
The home side hit 180 and Lymm’s last wicket fell with the score on 179.
Lymm 2nd won by four wickets at home to Mobberley who batted first and reached 164-9. , ~Grahm Waumsley taking 4-32. Lymm replied with 165-6, opener Steve Knowles hitting 46 and Josh Donley 30.
Appleton went down by two wickets at home to Stockport Trinity. Adam Pearson top scored as Appleton hit 120-8 and Jonathan Ball was the pick of the home side’s bowlers with 3-10 as Trinity replied with 123-8.
Glazebury enjoyed a solid win at Trafford Metrovics, Wayne Hargreaves hitting 53 and Simon Green 25 not out as they set a target of 131 for the loss of eight wickets. The home side were rolled over for 66, paceman Sam Stanier taking 5-11.
Warrington 3rd defeated Haslington by nine wickets, bowling them out for 81 and then coasting to 84-1.
Shoaib Pogha took 4-23 and Emily Page 3-11 while Nick Andrew hit an unbeaten 52 and William Gilbert 22.
