Firefighters tackle mattress and bin fires

FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a mattress was dumped and set on fire at Thelwall and to a bin fire at Victoria Park, Warrington, yesterday evening.

The incident took place shortly after 6pm when One fire engine attended from Birchwood to reports of a grass fire in Thelwall.
On arrival the crew found a mattress which appeared to have been dumped and deliberately set alight.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down, they were detained at the scene for around 20 minutes.
Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to call Cheshire police on 101 quoting IML 775130.

Later in the evening, at around 9.30pm Firefighters from Lymm used two water back packs to extinguish a small refuse container which was well alight at Victoria Park in Warrington.
The crew were detained at the scene for around 20 minutes.
