Firefighters tackle suspected arson incident on Grasmere Avenue

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a suspected arson attack involving a car which was well alight on Grasmere Avenue, Orford, during the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place at around 1.50am when  firefighters were called to reports of a car being on fire in the Grasmere Avenue area of Warrington.
On arrival the crew found a Ford Fiesta well alight.
A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
They then damped the car down to make it safe.
Firefighters were in attendance for around half-an-hour.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
