VIDEO: WARRINGTON’S brand new market has proved hugely popular attracting more than 25,000 visitor in its first week, including over 6,000 on Saturday.
It proved to be the busiest week ever since traders left the old market, even beating Christmas weeks in the temporary one.
Lots of traders were “stunned” by its popularity and even though they were buying more stock each day they were still running out in the new food court before the 7pm closing time.
Manager Andy Ward said: “We have had plenty of positive feedback from elected members, our MP and senior officers as well as the public.
“In the main the market has been extremely well received.
“It’s been a long and challenging road over the last few months and opening during a pandemic is just another level.
“Despite this, we’ve had a hugely successful opening week.
“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who has visited and followed our social distancing measures.
“At times we have had large queues, but hopefully everyone recognises our efforts to keep customers safe.
“We’d also like to thank our staff and all of our traders who have worked tirelessly to ensure the market is welcoming for all.
“Over the next few weeks you will begin to see even more traders open and hopefully we can slowly start to extend our opening hours.
“We look forward to seeing you all soon.
