POLICE have launched an investigation following an arson attack on a property at Great Sankey, Warrington, during the early hours of this morning.

The incident involved a plant growing up the side of the building, being set on fire shortly after midnight at a property which was also understood to be the scene of a shooting incident last March.
Police say they understand concerns in the local community and are continuing to investigate the incidents.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “On Tuesday 2 June police were called to reports of a fire at a house on Reaper Close in Great Sankey.
“Two men were believed to be outside the house around the time the incident took place before they fled on foot.
“Police are treating the fire as arson and have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances.”

Detective Sergeant Alison McLoughlin, from Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “We are aware of concerns in the local community following recent activity in the area.
“I want to reassure those living locally that we understand your concerns and we are continuing to investigate these incidents.
“We are doing everything we can and will continue to listen to your concerns and act on any potential information provided to us.
“There will be a number of officers patrolling the area and people are encouraged to speak to them with any concerns they have.”
