Firefighters tackle deliberate hedgerow fire

AS Cheshire fire chiefs launched a campaign warning of the dangers of fires in the open Warrington firefighters were out tackling a hedgerow fire which had been started deliberately in the town.

At 16:17 yesterday One fire engine from Warrington station was called out following reports of a fire in the open on Hume Street.
On arrival the crew found a fire involving hedgerow.
One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire. It is believed that the fire had been started deliberately.
Anyone with information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 716857.
Then at 16:56 one fire engine from Stockton Heath was called out following reports of a fire in the open off Birchwood Lane.
On arrival firefighters discovered a small quantity of grass well alight.
A water backpack was used to extinguish the flames.

Shortly before 3pm one fire crew from Warrington attended from Warrington was called to a small fire in a garage attached to an address in Whitesands Road, Lymm. All occupants were accounted for.
Crews used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out the fire.
