Requests for Woolston Park Pig come flying in!

WHEN Miranda Sherlock’s Dad Jeff, a retired joiner, made a wooden pig and stick man to put in Woolston Park for the enjoyment of local children, little did he realise it would result in over 80 requests from people asking for their own pigs!
Jeff made the originals because he was missing his grandchildren and wanted to bring some cheer to others. He put them in Woolston Park and screwed them down to make them secure and prevent someone picking them up and taking them home.
However, it appears that Mr Piggy went walkabout to the dismay of the children who returned to look for him.
As it was obviously popular, Jeff decided he would make “a few more” for people who might like to make a donation to Warrington Ambulance Station as his Daughter Miranda and her Husband Stephen are both front-line Paramedics of fifteen years, with Miranda based out of Birchwood alongside Birchwood Fire Service. Ambulance and fire services tend not to feature as much in the headlines or receive as much recognition as other public services.

When Miranda posted on the Woolston and Martinscroft Community Facebook page that her Dad was going to make “a few more” for people who might like to make a donation the requests started flying in and having passed 60, they are truly overwhelmed by the response.
Miranda’s Mum Barbara and Dad Jeff are Woolston residents of 50 years standing and look after their Grandchildren Harry and Lucy so that Miranda and Stephen can care for others.
