Firefighters tackle out of control garden fire and bench blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to deal with an out of control garden fire at Penketh and a park bench blaze at Fearnhead.

The garden fire took place at a property on Tannery Lane, Penketh, when firefighters from Widnes were called to reports of a fire at the rear of a house shortly after noon.
On arrival the crew found an intentional garden fire which had become out of control and started to spread.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and were detained at the scene for around 30 minutes.
Then at 22:29 last night firefighters from Warrington used a water backpack to extinguish a fire involving a park bench on Blackbrook Avenue in Fearnhead.
The crew were in attendance for around 15 minutes.
