Bridge fire believed to be arson

WITNESSES are being sought following an incident involving a fire on a bridge at Bewsey, Warrington, last night, which is believed to be arson.

The incident happened shortly before 22.30 on Bewsey Farm Close.
One fire engine attended from Warrington.
On arrival the crew discovered a small fire on a footbridge.
A water back pack was used to extinguish the flames.
It is believed that the fire had been started deliberately. Anyone with information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 706617.

In another incident last night firefighters were called at 23:13 following reports of a fire in the open near Grasmere Avenue, Orford.
On arrival the crew discovered that the fire involved a footbridge and had spread to three trees.
One hose reel jet was used to extinguish the flames.
