Appeal for witnesses after van fire on driveway of Orford home

WITNESSES are being sought following a suspected arson attack on a van parked on the driveway of a house at Orford during the early hours of this morning.

At 3.45am firefighters were called to reports of a van being on fire on the driveway of a house in Poole Avenue, Orford, Warrington.

On arrival the crew found the vehicle well alight. Two firefighters, one wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire. They each used a hose reel jet to do so.
Once the fire was out they damped the vehicle down to make it safe, monitoring temperatures with a thermal imaging camera.
Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
