Armed police raid property on Folly Lane

FOLLY Lane, Warrington, was closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon as armed police carried out a raid on a property in the area.

Eye witness reports said the road was closed in both directions, as armed officers appeared to be carrying out a raid at a local flat.
UPDATED 16:45 Folly lane has re-opened and armed police have now left the area. There is still a local police presence in the area.

UPDATED 20:30 A Cheshire police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 3pm on Sunday 3 May officers were called to Folly Lane in Warrington following reports of a man in possession of a weapon.
Local officers, supported by armed officers as a precaution, attended the scene and located the man.
The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and a public order offence.
He was taken to custody and has subsequently been released without charge.”
